Konstanz (laut) - Noch im Sommer stand es schlecht um ihn. Erst brach Haftbefehl einen Auftritt in Mannheim ab, dann fiel seine ganze Tournee ins Wasser. "Mein Körper braucht eine Pause", ließ er seine Anhängerschaft wissen. Überraschend nutzte er seine Ruhephase aus, um gleich ein ganzes Album zu produzieren. "Mainpark Baby" soll homogener und politischer als seine Vorgänger ausfallen. Eineinhalb Jahre nach dem radikal persönlichen Werk "Das Schwarze Album" zerfetze er laut Presseinfo die "auf Ignoranz, Ausgrenzung und Rassismus gründende sogenannte Ausländerpolitik der letzten Jahrzehnte". Mit einer fünfteiligen Reihe von Chehad Abdallah gewährt der Offenbacher erste Einblicke.
Kaum zu glauben, aber womit sich Thees Uhlmann nicht auskennt, sind Livealben. Weder als Solokünstler noch bei Tomte, dabei spielt er doch seit Jahren 100.000 Songs live in Hamburg. Naja, zumindest heißt seine erste Liveplatte nun so, die auf Doppel-CD oder 3-fach-Vinyl zu erstehen ist. Daran, dass ein Dokument dieser Art dringend notwendig war, lässt Uhlmann keinen Zweifel: "Wir haben ca. 170 Konzerte gespielt seitdem die 'Junkies & Scientologen'-Platte rausgekommen ist. Junge, das war ein Geschaller, bis der letzte Ton aufgenommen war. Hut up vor uns selbst, aber so ist das eben manchmal, wenn die Ratte noch mal in den Keller muss."
"Blaue Stunde" war 2020 sein erstes deutschsprachiges Reggae-Album. Sicherlich fiel diese Entscheidung auch im Interesse seines Labels Universal aus, doch Gentleman ließ im Zeit-Interview wenig Zweifel daran, dass auch er selbst es über die Jahre schade fand, dass sein Publikum in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz meistens nur den Refrain von "Dem Gone" mitsingen konnte. Der verkaufstechnische Erfolg blieb jedoch aus und mit "Mad World" kehrt der Kölner nun wieder zurück in sein altes Revier. Wie sehr ihn die Teilnahme am VOX-Format "Sing Meinen Song" geprägt hat, belegt der Titeltrack, eine Coverversion von Tears For Fears.

Neil Youngs Album "Harvest" war in den USA die meistverkaufte Platte des Jahres 1972. Mit "Heart Of Gold" enthält es zudem Youngs bekanntestes Lied. Zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum erscheint nun "Harvest (50th Anniversary Edition)" auf Vinyl und CD. Das Paket enthält neben dem Originalalbum in der 2009 neu abgemischten Fassung drei Studio-Outtakes, eine zuvor unveröffentlichte Solo-Performance aus dem Jahr 1971 sowie eine bisher unveröffentlichte, zweistündige Doku aus dem Jahr 1971, in der die "Harvest"-Sessions filmisch dokumentiert werden.
Neil Young dazu: "We had a whole movie of making 'Harvest' that no one's seen. Actually, it's going to be in theaters. Yeah, for one night only, of course. People blink and it's over. That's good. That's the way it should be and then it becomes available in all of the regular formats ... It's us 50 years ago making this record and everybody's having a great time."
Die Weihnachtsalben der Backstreet Boys und Sarah Connor haben euch kalt gelassen? Try Fiddler's Green. Da werden Fiddle, Quetsche und Mandoline noch persönlich ausgepackt.
